In a new move, five universities in Missouri are simplifying the college admission process by allowing some students to skip the traditional application process.
Instead, these universities are partnering with the website Niche to use a direct admissions program.
This means high school seniors can now get accepted into colleges without having to fill out complicated forms, making it easier for students to qualify for scholarships and admissions based on their Niche profiles.
The universities involved in this program are:
- University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL)
- Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO)
- Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T)
- University of Central Missouri (UCM)
- Northwest Missouri State University (NWMO)
To be eligible for automatic acceptance, students need to meet specific criteria such as certain GPA requirements, test scores, and academic interests.
This program aims to help increase student enrollment by reducing the stress associated with college applications.
It’s especially beneficial for first-generation or low-income students, who may find the application process difficult or overwhelming.
University officials say that this initiative not only helps make the process easier but also encourages students to visit and tour the colleges.
