A bus driver from Sunrise Beach was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) on Friday afternoon in Camden County.
He was found driving a school bus with children inside while under the influence of alcohol.
The police report states that the driver faces 20 counts of first-degree child endangerment and 20 counts of driving while intoxicated, with passengers under the age of 17 on board.
He is currently in the Camden County Jail, and no bond has been set for his release.
The arrest occurred after concerned citizens noticed the bus driving erratically and reported it to authorities.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during the incident, but parents and the community are in shock over what could have been a dangerous situation.
Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious or unsafe driving, especially when children’s safety is involved.
