WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County Police officer was suspended after he was arrested Saturday for alleged involvement in a fight in D.C., according to PGPD.
Lt. Jeremy Ingraham was arrested by DC Police officers at a place of business and charged with second-degree assault shortly after 5 p.m. He was not on duty for PGPD when the arrest occured.
Ingraham has been with the Prince George’s County Police Department since 2012, and is currently working in the Burea of Investigation. PGPD did not give details on how long the suspension would last.
As the arresting agency, MPD is handling the investigation into the assault. PGPD is directing all questions to MPD at this time.
A Prince George’s County police officer has been suspended following his arrest while off duty. The officer, whose identity has not been publicly released, was taken into custody in Annapolis on charges including assault and the use of a firearm.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), the officer is accused of pointing his duty weapon at another driver while traveling home in his personal vehicle shortly after leaving work. At the time of the incident, he was still wearing his police uniform. No injuries were reported during the altercation. The PGPD has suspended the officer without pay and initiated an internal investigation into the matter.
This incident adds to a series of recent suspensions involving PGPD officers arrested while off duty. In February, Corporal David Hardester was arrested in Charles County and charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a shot at a man. He was also charged with second-degree assault in connection with a domestic incident in St. Mary’s County. Hardester has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Earlier in 2024, Corporal Benjamin Lazic was arrested in Anne Arundel County on charges of second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault. The PGPD described the incident as “domestic-related” and suspended Lazic without pay while an internal investigation was conducted.
In another case, Officer Aaron Holliday was arrested in New York City after an altercation at a nightclub. He faces charges of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, reckless endangerment, and menacing. Holliday was off duty at the time of the incident and has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
These incidents have raised concerns about the conduct of off-duty officers and the PGPD’s accountability measures. The department has stated that it takes allegations of criminal wrongdoing seriously and holds its officers to high standards, whether they are on or off duty. As investigations continue, the PGPD is committed to transparency and ensuring that justice is served.
For more information or to report additional details, individuals are encouraged to contact the PGPD’s Internal Affairs Division or the appropriate local law enforcement agency.
