Philanthropist Goes Missing After Social Media Silence, Stranger Found with Her Car

A well-known Texas philanthropist, Karen Miles, has been missing for nearly three weeks, and her absence on social media has raised alarms among her friends and family.

The 61-year-old was last seen on August 21 in Houston, Texas, and was reported missing on August 29 by her concerned relatives.

As the days pass without any updates on her whereabouts, the investigation has taken a twist. A man has been arrested for allegedly driving Miles’ car, but he has not been directly charged in connection with her disappearance.

Timeline of Events

Karen Miles, a dedicated and active member of her community, lived in Missouri City, Texas. According to reports, she was last seen on August 21. When friends noticed her unusual silence on social media, they became worried.

Wendy Lewis Armstrong, one of Miles’ close associates, explained that she initially thought nothing of the absence. However, when she saw other people posting on Miles’ Facebook page, urging her to respond, concern grew. Armstrong called Miles’ phone, but it went straight to voicemail.

Days later, friends visited her home to check on her, but there was no response. This visit prompted her family to officially report her missing on August 29, with the Missouri City Police Department issuing a statement the following day.

Arrest Linked to Miles’ Car

On August 25, days after Miles was last seen, a man named Davante Clark was spotted driving her car in nearby Pearland, Texas.

What caught police attention was that the car had a stolen license plate. Pearland Police Officer Chad Rogers confirmed that Clark was arrested after authorities found a gun inside the vehicle.

Clark has since been charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful carrying of a weapon, altering a license plate, and for being a fugitive due to active warrants in Harris County.

However, none of these charges are directly related to Miles’ disappearance, and Clark has not yet entered a plea. Despite these charges, Missouri City police consider him a person of interest in the case.

The active warrants against Clark were for previous crimes such as evading arrest and unauthorized use of a vehicle, Rogers added. These unrelated charges add to the complexity of the investigation, though authorities are cautious in linking Clark to the missing woman’s case at this time.

Miles’ Strong Community Presence

Karen Miles is a well-known philanthropist and an active member of her local community. She frequently communicated with her friends and colleagues, which made her sudden absence even more troubling.

Armstrong, who had worked with Miles on several community platforms, said, “Karen was always in contact, so when I saw the second message on Facebook, I knew something was off.”

Miles’ disappearance has left a void in the community she served for years, and friends are still in shock over the entire situation.
