Man Arrested in Boulder for Shocking Sexual Assault and Choking Incident!

In Boulder, a man named Vincent Isaac Cortez has been arrested after reportedly choking and sexually assaulting a woman over the course of two days during a violent domestic incident.

Cortez now faces several serious charges, including sexual assault, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and obstructing a peace officer.

He is currently in custody, with bail set at $300,000, and has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for October 10.

The distressing incident came to light after Boulder police responded to a call in the early hours of the morning.

A woman had been seen ringing a neighbor’s doorbell and knocking, seeking help. When officers arrived, the woman shared that she had been assaulted by Cortez multiple times.

According to the police report, the violence escalated on September 11. Between 3:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon, Cortez reportedly choked the woman while they were in her car in a parking lot.

She lost consciousness during the attack and believed she was going to die.

After regaining consciousness, she confronted Cortez, asking why he did it. However, Cortez allegedly choked her again, ignoring her pleas for mercy. The assault only stopped when the woman begged for her life.

Despite the severe attack, the woman initially did not call the authorities. She later explained that she didn’t want Cortez to go to jail.

However, the situation worsened the following day, September 12, when the woman picked up Cortez from Longmont.

According to the police affidavit, Cortez was intoxicated and began acting erratically. He stripped off his clothes and jumped into a pool, then invited the woman to join him.

When she refused and went back inside the residence, Cortez’s behavior turned violent once more.

Inside the apartment, Cortez allegedly threw the woman around the room, slapped, punched, and pulled her hair.

He also forced her to perform oral sex. The affidavit detailed that Cortez eventually passed out due to his intoxication, which gave the woman a chance to escape.

The woman later informed police that she was in significant pain, especially in her chest and throat, as a result of the choking.

She was able to describe the series of events in detail, which helped the authorities build a case against Cortez.

On September 15, Cortez was arrested after a standoff with police. Boulder authorities haven’t yet confirmed whether his arrest is linked to a standoff that occurred in north Boulder that same day.

However, Cortez was booked into the Boulder County Jail early on the morning of September 16.

This is not the first time Cortez has faced legal trouble. Court records show that he has three open domestic violence cases, as well as an additional assault case, all in Boulder County.
