A Jefferson City Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Possessing Heroin-Fentanyl Mixture
In a significant case, a Jefferson City resident, Tremaine Bell, 43, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. Bell’s crime? Possessing over a pound of a dangerous mix of heroin and fentanyl.
His sentencing was handed down on September 11, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough. What makes this case more serious is that Bell will serve his sentence without the possibility of parole.
The case began back in October 2022 when police received a tip-off about Bell storing illegal drugs in a storage unit in Jefferson City. This information was enough for law enforcement to begin a thorough investigation.
Their suspicions were confirmed when, on October 31, 2022, a police officer tried to stop Bell as he was leaving the storage facility. However, instead of cooperating, Bell fled. He pulled into a gas station, abandoned his vehicle, and ran. The officer, though, managed to catch him shortly after.
During this arrest, the authorities found $1,210 in cash on Bell. A further search of his car revealed a gun, adding to his charges. However, the real discovery happened when the police searched the storage unit.
Inside, they found a staggering 556.17 grams of a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, and Tramadol. Alongside the drugs, officers uncovered three guns, two of which had been reported stolen, and a whopping $29,988 in cash.
