A Jefferson City man with a criminal record was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at a vehicle containing a child.
Brandon Pouncil, a convicted felon, faces multiple charges, including discharging a firearm at a moving vehicle, second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a firearm, and armed criminal action. He is currently being held without bond.
Incident Details
On Sunday afternoon, the incident occurred while the victim was visiting a friend’s mother’s apartment in Jefferson City. During the visit, Pouncil reportedly expressed his frustration about being disrespected in his home.
An argument ensued between Pouncil and the victim, which escalated when Pouncil allegedly threatened to shoot her.
According to court documents, when the victim attempted to call the police using her phone, Pouncil allegedly knocked the phone from her hand.
As she bent down to retrieve it, Pouncil is said to have kicked her in the shoulder.
Escalation and Arrest
A friend of the victim intervened by pushing Pouncil against a wall, allowing the victim to safely exit the apartment and get into her vehicle.
As the victim was reversing her car, Pouncil reportedly fired several shots at the vehicle, hitting it at least once. At the time of the shooting, a two-year-old child was in the car with the victim.
Pouncil’s arrest and the charges he faces highlight the severity of the situation, especially considering the presence of a young child during the incident.
Legal Proceedings
Pouncil has been charged with multiple offenses related to the shooting. He remains in custody with no bond.
The legal system will address the gravity of these charges, especially the endangerment of a child and the illegal possession of a firearm.
