Deadly Bar Assault in Jefferson City: 26-Year-Old Man Charged with Murder and Assault!

A 26-year-old man named Kamari Balton was arrested and booked into Cole County Jail on Monday after being accused of murder.

The incident took place outside a bar in Jefferson City on August 17, where Balton allegedly assaulted 49-year-old Rafael Ayala, leading to Ayala’s death.

Balton is charged with felony murder and second-degree assault, according to Cole County Prosecutor Locke Thompson.

Jail records show that he was booked into Cole County Jail at 5:47 p.m. on Monday, and he is being held without bond. Before this, Balton was in Platte County Jail.

The Jefferson City Police Department released a statement about the incident, which occurred at Twisted Chicks, a bar located on Industrial Drive.

According to the statement, police were called to the scene at 1:43 a.m. on August 17, where they found Ayala unconscious after the assault.

The owner of the bar confirmed to ABC 17 News that the incident happened in the parking lot outside the bar after it had already closed. Ayala was rushed to University Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
