On Thursday, Maple Shade residents Scott and Jacqui Martelack were getting ready for an Eagles shopping binge at Fan Treasures inside Cherry Hill Mall, and they didn’t cut any corners.
Cash registers at sports goods businesses around the Philadelphia-South Jersey region echoed with ka-ching on the eve of the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winning parade in downtown Philadelphia.
A million people are anticipated to visit the city for the Eagles parade, and many were still deciding what to dress the evening before.
Even though it’s Valentine’s Day, there is only a sea of green along the parade route; don’t expect to see anything pink or red.
The Martelacks will be at Love Park or near Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia. The pair was born and raised in Philadelphia, so they are a little green, even though they currently reside in Maple Shade.
At Fan Treasures on Thursday, 54-year-old Jacqui focused on an olive green Eagles Super Bowl LIX sweatshirt that costs $85.
Jacqui nodded and grinned when asked in jest if she had spent her entire paycheck on Eagles clothing since Super Sunday this week.
The transportation worker from Philadelphia, who was also sporting an Eagles charm bracelet, a silver necklace with an Eagles pendant, and silver Eagles earrings, declared, “Anything for my Eagles.”
Although store owners said that sales were strong throughout the season due to the Eagles’ stellar 14-3 record, the Super Bowl victory on February 9 caused a spike in sales.
According to John DeMaria, Head of Operations for Fan Treasures, which operates 15 locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, demand for anything Eagles skyrocketed this week. The one at Cherry Hill Mall is one of four in South Jersey.
Naturally, sales were excellent all season long, but from the night of the Super Bowl victory until today, they have significantly increased. Everyone is attempting to prepare for the procession.
According to DeMaria, Fan Treasures got 20 shipments of Eagles gear on Thursday, including six-style Super Bowl Champs blankets.
According to DeMaria, business is soaring. People are giddy with anticipation.
At Cherry Hill’s Market Place at Garden State Park, where a Dick’s Sporting Goods store had Eagles fans coming and going all day Thursday into the night, that shopping frenzy was in full swing.
Engineer Joe Pomante, 64, of Cherry Hill, was leaving Dick’s at about five o’clock in the evening, wearing his new short-sleeve Super Bowl t-shirt with pride.
Why not? As he and his family accompany the march from 17th and the Parkway to the Art Museum, Pomante requested the $40 t-shirt, which he intends to wear. It only occurs very infrequently.
Josh Meyers, 22, of Voorhees, a senior at Rutgers University, emerged a few minutes later with his item in hand and no bag. With great anticipation, Meyers removed the price tag from his brand-new, $130 Kelly Green 1 Jalen Hurts jersey.
Meyers, using both hands to carefully feel the 1 sign, stated, “This is our quarterback.” He is the all-time great quarterback. I am really excited to attend the parade wearing my new jersey.
The Philadelphia Eagles Pro Shop, located in the same posh Market Place property, had a line that stretched around the front just after 6 p.m.
The store’s capacity overflow caused entry to be staggered. Despite this, 25-year-old Dakotah Figueroa and her 29-year-old sister Ariel Lopez of North Philadelphia braved the bitter weather to make some last-minute purchases for Friday’s parade.
After an hour-and-a-half flight from Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was doing her doctoral studies, Figueroa had just arrived in town. The two of them went directly to the Eagles Pro Shop after Lopez picked her up at Philadelphia International Airport.
Figueroa chose a Super Bowl LIX Eagles hooded sweatshirt, while Lopez decided on a wool Super Bowl Eagles beanie hat.
Figueroa stated, “We’re getting things to stay warm during the parade.” It will be chilly. I am aware that I am dressed in leggings, two sets of slacks, and a jacket. Perhaps I’ll get a blanket as well.
At 11 a.m. on Friday, the Eagles championship parade will begin. It is predicted to be clear but cold, with temperatures in the low 30s.
Starting at the intersection of Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, the parade route will head north toward the Philadelphia Art Museum, passing by City Hall’s west side and ascending the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
