The Harrisburg School District moved last week to establish its own police department in response to an increase in students’ violent and threatening behavior.
According to a resolution adopted by the district’s receiver at the school board meeting on November 26, four police officers will begin monitoring the district’s schools in the 2024–25 academic year. The district will invite certified police officers into its buildings for the first time since 2009.
