Flyerscenter in Philadelphia (AP) When Scott Laughton scored his second goal of the game and reached 100 goals in his career, he felt a great sense of pride.

In a 4-1 victory over Detroit on Thursday night, Laughton scored two empty-net goals to tie the team record of four goals in a game, marking the beginning of another significant milestone.

“I hope it will kind of get my game going,” Laughton remarked. The night was fantastic.

Laughton became the first Flyers player to score four goals since John LeClair in 2002 and recorded his second career hat trick after only scoring once in his previous 25 games.

This is the 17th time a player has scored four goals in a game, and he is the 10th Flyers player to do so.

“You always hope good things happen for Scotty Laughton,” coach John Tortorella remarked. He works so hard. We won the game because of him.

Inside the locker room, Laughton received a standing ovation from his teammates, who gathered around him in jubilation. A professional wrestling championship belt bearing the Flyers’ insignia was then given to him.

The first two goals were earned the hard way by 30-year-old Laughton, who debuted in the NHL with the Flyers in January 2013.

He scored a breakaway goal on a slap shot from the left circle to start the second period. In the third, he scored a short-handed goal after crashing into the crease and tipping a feed from Travis Konecny.

Despite being a consistent player with the Flyers for almost ten years, Laughton has never finished a season with more than eighteen goals. For a Flyers team that appears ready to finally come out of a protracted rebuild and contend for their first postseason spot since 2020, he only managed three goals this season.

On February 7, 2021, he performed his first trick against Washington.

It’s difficult to score goals in this league, and I’ve been in it for a long time, but I suppose 100 goals—you don’t really look at it,” Laughton said. I think it’s quite awesome and unique to reach 100. Getting that feels very amazing, even though I know it’s not much in comparison to some guys.

During the game’s last 70 seconds, he scored his final two goals on empty-netters.

According to Laughton, it’s pretty cool. Although I know they all count, there are two empty-netters.
