In a parking scam that targeted Pittsburgh Steelers supporters who traveled to the North Shore to watch the team face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, a Pennsylvania man was charged with three misdemeanors.
Alphonso Ratliff, 30, made over $1000, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, by charging $50 per person to participate in a lot off Fulton Street next to Acrisure Stadium. Ratliff, who lives in Pittsburgh’s Manchester neighborhood, is only two streets away from the lot. The lot is not his property.
To deceive drivers, Ratliff altered a professional sign and donned an orange attendant outfit. According to police, he made up to $1150 from the swindle.
According to the Tribune-Review, Ratliff is accused with defiant trespassing, falsely posing as a private employee, and theft by deception. Ratliff is not in police custody as of Thursday, despite the fact that there is an outstanding arrest warrant for him.
Ratliff’s attempt was stopped by the authorities before the game at 1 p.m. after the Safety Sling Company, the lot’s owner, informed them.
Records show that Ratliff has previously engaged in similar behavior. In December 2023, he attempted to do the same.
