All around the United States, millions of Stanley cups are being recalled.
A flaw in the mugs could hurt anyone who drink from them.
A Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) press statement states that around 2.6 million of the company’s stainless steel Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs are potentially combustible.
The same statement describes how heat and torque can cause the mug’s lid threads to weaken, leading to the lid coming off while being used. As a result, users run the risk of getting burned.
16 of the approximately 91 injuries that have been reported globally so far have occurred in the United States. The malfunction caused about 11 persons to need medical attention.
Customers who bought the mugs are being advised to immediately cease using them. They can also get in touch with Stanley to get a replacement lid for free, including shipping.
