The Pittsburgh Steelers appeared to be a possible fit when wide receiver K.J. Osborn was cut by the New England Patriots. Osborn, a large wide receiver who could play outside and possibly a void, had just recovered from George Pickens’ hamstring ailment.
Osborn will instead travel to Washington after the Washington Commanders filed a claim for him. It’s unclear if Pittsburgh filed a waiver claim for Osborn because they are pursuing Washington on the waiver wire.
After being inactive for the second part of the season, the Patriots let Osborn join a contender, which he did in Washington, despite the fact that he only appeared in seven games and recorded seven receptions for 57 yards during those games.
Due to knee and rib ailments, wide receiver Noah Brown left the Commanders and is expected to be sidelined for some time. In order to assist Osborn take Brown’s place, that might even be for the remainder of the season.
Osborn was one of football’s more underappreciated wide receivers in 2023. For 655 yards and seven scores, he hauled in 50 passes. Osborn, a big-bodied athlete who would outperform the middle of the field, had three consecutive seasons with 500 yards or more in receiving before this one.
