Cam Heyward, a defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has emerged as the front-runner in fan polling. Heyward was ranked fourth in the NFL and second in the AFC during the first week of voting, but he quickly rose to the top and passed Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.
On December 27, the players and coaches will cast their votes for the Pro Bowl selection. Each ballot from the coaches, players, and fans accounts for one-third of the total, which is then computed to determine the Pro Bowl winner.
Heyward, 35, is recording some of his best performances to yet. He has eight sacks through 13 games, and a few more solid games against the Steelers’ most difficult schedule might put him in danger of reaching his career-high of 12 sacks.
Heyward has been an All-Pro four times and a Pro Bowl six times. This season, he should repeat all of those accolades, adding to his resume and earning him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Additionally, three additional Steelers players are still in the lead in their position groups. Heyward is joined as the top vote-getter by outside linebacker T.J. Watt, kicker Chris Boswell, and special teamer Miles Killebrew.
