Early Monday, Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh County coroner reported the deaths of a tractor-trailer driver and someone attempting to push a minivan off of Interstate 78.
Trooper Nathan Branosky reported that four injured individuals were sent to hospitals following the collision near Upper Saucon Township’s mile marker 61.6 at approximately 4:50 a.m.
According to news announcements from Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio and state police, Nicholas James Bolotine, 30, of Lancaster County, was killed when the tractor-trailer he was operating collided with the Toyota minivan and another tractor-trailer.
One of the three individuals slain, according to the police, was attempting to force the minivan out of the right lane of Interstate 78. In order to identify the deceased, the coroner is collaborating with federal and state authorities.
According to Buglio’s news release, both the pedestrian and Bolotine died from multiple blunt force injuries, and the cause of each death was an accident.
According to authorities, three of the crash victims were sent to Fountain Hill’s St. Luke’s Hospital, while the fourth was taken to Salisbury Township’s Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Following the collision, Branosky said, the westbound portion of Interstate 78 was closed between the Quakertown and Hellertown/Bethlehem exits for around six hours. According to him, the road was reopened Monday around 11 a.m.
According to Branosky, state police Troop M’s collision analysis reconstruction team is investigating the cause of the collision. State police, the coroner, and the district attorney’s office in Lehigh County are all investigating the event.
