Throughout the month of December, the Camp Hill boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams will accrue a substantial amount of airline miles.

Additionally, they deserve the trip.

From December 19 to 22, the Camp Hill boys will travel to Gillette, Wyoming, to compete in the Pat Weede Memorial Tournament.

The Camp Hill girls wrestling team will travel to Sheridan, Wyoming, to compete in the Sheridan Girls Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, December 21, prior to the boys team’s homecoming.

According to head coach Chad Gallaher, the teams sold mothers, held car washes, pancake breakfasts, and solicited help from alumni to generate over $50,000 for the travels.

Gallaher stated, “The cool thing is that this is fully funded for the coaches and kids without spending a single penny from the school district.”

What exactly was the rationale behind Gallaher’s decision to send his charges 1,800 miles away just a few days before Christmas?

One of my friends used to reside in Gillette. Our program has several excellent donors. Over the past six years, we have made three trips to Florida. And. Gallaher remarked, “On a whim, let’s see what’s out in Wyoming.”

Asking whether there were any vacancies, Gallaher called out to the tournament directors.

We’re an invitational, but tell us about yourself, they said. “Gallaher said.” Our school is located in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, mediocre at best. Sometimes we get our clocks cleaned, but other times we perform brilliantly. All we’re doing is letting our children see another side of the nation.

The wrestlers from Camp Hill will face opponents from Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

The woman replied, “We’ve never had an East Coast team come to this,” which was cool, Gallaher said. I’m sure they’re wondering how I got there. Thus, it’s just another one of these types of transactions.
