In a civil case filed on Sunday, Jay-Z, also known as Shawn Carter, was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 while working with Sean Diddy Combs.
Combs was first named as the defendant in the complaint, which was initially filed back in October. Since then, it has also been refiled to include Carter’s name. An anonymous Jane Doe made the charge, saying that Combs and Carter had brought her to an MTV Music Video Awards afterparty in 2000 and then raped her.
In a vehement reply on Sunday afternoon, Jay-Z stated that his counsel was pressured into reaching an out-of-court settlement by sending him blackmail related to the accusations made by lawyer Tony Buzbee. Carter continued by claiming that it had the opposite impact and instead inspired him to publicly expose his accuser for the phony they are.

He used a pseudonym to file his baseless case. In his most recent statement, he omits to mention that my business issued his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of a purported victim, who never made any demands of him. Rather, she merely requested a private mediation. In addition to suing me, Mr. Carter has attempted to intimidate and harass both this plaintiff and me since I wrote the letter on her behalf. Combs was arrested on September 16 on allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering, and he was later imprisoned at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.Combs will be held until his trial on May 5, 2025, after being denied bail by two separate judges. If found guilty of the racketeering accusation, he may spend the rest of his life behind bars.
On November 16, 2023, Combs’ ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, filed one of the first assault complaints against him. She charged the rapper with rape, sex trafficking, and physical abuse.
The following day, the lawsuit was confidentially settled on unknown terms. CNN published surveillance footage showing Combs attacking Ventura in 2016 from a hotel in Los Angeles on May 17, 2023. Combs apologized and said he had reached his lowest point in a video that was posted on Instagram shortly after.
