Saquon Barkley, the running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, increased his chances of winning MVP in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Running back LeSean McCoy set the Eagles’ single-season rushing record of 1.607 yards in 2013, which Barkley surpassed in the fourth quarter. This season, he has ran for 1,615 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The most significant contributor to the Eagles’ potent offense has been Barkley. To address their offensive issues, the Eagles switched to a run-heavy strategy following their Week 5 bye. At an average of 188.9 yards per game through 13 games, Philadelphia’s offense was the best in the NFL.
Because he played behind a leaky offensive line and with mediocre playmakers, Barkley didn’t have as much success during his six-year tenure with the New York Giants. He also had to deal with wounds.
He is currently among the NFL’s top players and a strong contender for the Super Bowl.
In the Eagles’ last two wins, Barkley has made crucial plays. In the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens last week, he carried for a 25-yard touchdown, giving them a nine-point lead (21-19).
Barkley rushed for two touchdowns of 70 yards or more in the second half of the Eagles’ victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.
Against the Panthers, Barkley has run for 116 yards, breaking the record with a nine-yard carry.
