UPDATE: Against the Browns, George Pickens is out.

Following an injury scare late in the week, George Pickens, the top wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was anticipated to play against the Cleveland Browns. After twitching his hamstring near the end of Thursday’s practice, Pickens appeared on Friday with the ailment. The Steelers put Pickens through a strenuous pregame workout and categorized him as questionable, but he appears to have passed the tests and is eligible to play. He was unexpectedly inactive upon their publication, nevertheless.

The back-and-forth between Pickens and the Browns defensive backs, particularly Greg Newsome, has been going on all week, and Pickens has been talking up the game against the Cleveland Browns. When questioned about Newsome, the erratic wide receiver said he had no idea who he was, which encouraged Newsome to retaliate.

“I am totally focused on the team,” Newsome stated. He is clearly a self-centered individual, as evidenced by the consequences he inflicts. It’s my responsibility to do everything in my power to support the team’s victory. For me, there will never be a one-on-one conflict. Trying to assist my squad in winning is my battle. That’s what he does all the time. I will never find a man who could inspire me in any manner.

As the team’s best wide receiver, Pickens receives the majority of the passing game’s volume. It should come as no surprise, but if he is out, the Steelers lack a strong replacement. If Pickens were to suffer an injury, Mike Williams would have to step up and play a lot more for the Steelers.
