According to recently filed court documents, a 29-year-old woman killed a 66-year-old man with gardening tools after knocking on his door and for assistance after claiming she had been struck by a car.

Following complaints of a naked lady running around the neighborhood, police were dispatched to the intersection of North 6th and Wiconisco streets at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers contacted Tajyeiah Greer of Harrisburg, who was naked and covered in blood.

As she knocked on doors for assistance after claiming she had been struck by a car, Greer claimed officers she had attacked and killed a guy inside an apartment at 2709 North 6th St., according to the affidavit.

When investigators entered the residence, they discovered 66-year-old Michael Thompson covered in blood, lying face down on the floor of his living room, according to the police. Additional blood was discovered all throughout the apartment’s first floor.

Thompson suffered many stab wounds to his torso and was declared dead at the spot. The coroner’s office declared his death to be a homicide.

According to Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Zawisky, who spoke to PennLive, the death seemed to be a random attack, but the reason is still being investigated. He claimed that Greer repeatedly stabbed Thompson with horticulture equipment designed for pruning bushes or tree limbs.

Greer was treated at Harrisburg Hospital for minor wounds she said were caused by being struck by a car on North 6th Street.

According to the affidavit, Greer acknowledged being a part of a fight in Thompson’s apartment after receiving treatment, and she then departed by the front door. Greer added that when she knocked on Thompson’s door, he was home by himself.

On December 18, a preliminary hearing will be held before Magisterial District Judge J. Matthew Pianka.

Harrisburg has seen 21 homicides in 2024, up from 13 at this time last year.
