T.J. Luther, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has joined the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad. The Panthers quickly signed Luther when he traveled to Charlotte for a workout on Tuesday.
Luther was cut during the 53-man roster cutdowns after joining the Steelers last in training camp. Luther was signed by the Green Bay Packers after being cut by the Steelers, but he did not stay in Green Bay for long. Luther participated in two preseason games with the team.
The New England Patriots cut Luther, 24, during OTAs after he played for them for two seasons. The New York Jets were the first team to sign Luther after Gardner-Webb.
After graduating from Gardner-Webb in 2022, Luther was selected to the First Team All-Big South. At his pro day, the 5-foot-11 wide receiver ran a 4.50 40-yard dash and demonstrated enough athleticism and performance to deserve NFL opportunities.
