According to NFL source Aaron Wilson, the Pittsburgh Steelers sent former Cleveland Browns nose tackle Siaki Ika for a workout on Wednesday. Ika inked a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles after being cut loose by the Browns on October 15. On November 20, he was let go after only a week.
With Breiden Fehoko on their practice squad and Montravius Adams back, Pittsburgh doesn’t need a nose tackle. To have guys like Ika on the roster for a possible comeback at any time, they do, however, try them out.
Ika was a highly anticipated prospect heading into the 2023 NFL Draft after previously been selected in the third round out of Baylor. But his brief NFL career has been tarnished by a few injuries and weight problems, and the Browns moved on after little more than a season.
Although the 6-foot-3, 335-pound nose tackle is primarily used as a one-technique or straight-up zero technique and lacks much versatility, Ika would make sense to add because the Steelers are the kind of club that still employs the classic nose tackle.
