Thanks in large part to some of the conference’s top offensive players, Penn State is ready to meet Oregon in Saturday’s Big Ten championship game.
When the Big Ten revealed its first, second, and third team offenses, Penn State’s talented tight end, Tyler Warren, was the main attraction.
Both the coaches and the media selected Warren for the first team offensive. Warren has had an amazing season, breaking Big Ten and Penn State records every week. He is ranked second in the conference with 81 catches and third with 978 yards.
Warren, however, was not the only Penn State offensive standout honored by the conference. Coaches and the media chose Vega Ioane, the Nittany Lions’ star left guard, for the second team. The media selected right guard Sal Wormley for the third team.
Notably, neither the first nor the second teams included Drew Allar. The starting quarterback was Dillon Gabriel of Oregon, the Big Ten’s offensive player of the year. Both coaches and the media ranked Ohio State’s Will Howard as the conference’s third-team quarterback and Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke as its second-team quarterback.
When the Nittany Lions play for the Big Ten championship on Saturday night, Penn State will need Allar, Warren, Ioane, Wormley, and the rest of the offense to stand up and shine.
The game between Penn State and Oregon will begin at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday at 8 p.m. CBS will broadcast the game nationwide.
