Ahead of the Big Ten Championship game, the fate of one of Penn State’s top playmakers is still uncertain.
Harrison Wallace III, a redshirt junior wide receiver, did not play a snap and was labeled as questionable prior to Penn State’s 44-7 victory over Maryland.
Coach James Franklin stated during a webinar on Sunday to promote the Big Ten title game that Wallace was unable to play against the Terrapins because he tweaked something last week. Wallace dressed and stretched before the game, but he didn’t do anything during the real warm-ups.
However, Franklin expressed optimism that he will be able to travel this week. I couldn’t go this past week, but it’s too early in the week to tell.
Wallace is the best wide receiver among the Nittany Lions, but star tight end Tyler Warren leads Penn State in every receiving category. With five catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener against West Virginia, he made an immediate impression as the top pick.
The Alabama native has three touchdowns, 579 yards, and 35 receptions this season.
Franklin has consistently emphasized the need for improvement in that group this season, even in the face of sporadic hints of improvement. Penn State’s wide receiver production has been a problem for years. In addition to his response about Wallace’s injuries, he addressed it once again.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Penn State will play Oregon in the Big Ten Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium. CBS will broadcast the game.
