Bo Bassett, a native of Pennsylvania and the nation’s top 2026 wrestling recruit, revealed his next stop on Tuesday night.
Following the Crimson Crushers’ victory in the PIAA Class 2A Team Championships, the junior from Bishop McCort gave a presentation on FloWrestling and chose Iowa.
“I’m from Pennsylvania, but I’m eager to experience that Iowa love,” Bassett remarked. Being an Iowa Hawkeye has always been my dream.
Bassett won a PIAA Class 2A championship at 139 pounds in 2023–2024 and has a 111-0 high school career record. They defeated Corry 58–12 on Tuesday night, with an 18-second pin.
Over 43,000 people watched the Flo stream.
On FloWrestling Radio Live on Monday, Bassett said that Penn State, Oklahoma State, Iowa, and Virginia Tech were his final four finalists.
“The hiring process has been amazing,” Bassett stated on Monday’s FloWrestling Radio Live. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it has been more difficult than I anticipated, it has been enjoyable. I spent my entire life working toward that.
I can best identify with those four schools: Virginia Tech, Penn State, Iowa, and Oklahoma State. It all came down to talking to God and talking to my family. It has been enjoyable.
After making formal visits to Virginia Tech, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, and Oklahoma State, Bassett first reduced his list to a Top 7.
The current runner-up at the PIAA 2A duals is Bishop McCort. With a victory over Corry of District 10, McCort, which also includes top prospects Jax Forrest (34-0 this season, 117-3 career, 1 PIAA title), advanced to the playoffs.
When the PIAA Team Championships get underway in Altoona on Friday, the District 6 winners will return to competition.
On a collision course, McCort and the reigning champion Faith Christian may face off in Saturday’s final at 3 p.m.
Bassett won a bronze medal in the 2024 U20 World.
