For the third time in four games, Kentucky fell short against the Arkansas Razorbacks (89-79) in a Saturday night reunion game against former coach John Calipiari. Although the Wildcats are still regarded as one of the best teams in the country, they are still working to improve their game, which has caused them to lose five of their six games this season to opponents that are not ranked.
With defeats in four of their last five games, the Rebels have also cooled significantly since their ascent into the national rankings. On their difficult SEC schedule, ranked teams have suffered all four of those losses, most recently at home against No. 1 Auburn (92–82) following a 72–69 victory over Texas.
