Next season, the Eagles’ defensive line might become even more formidable.

Myles Garrett, the defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, asked to be traded on Monday, and ESPN writer Dan Graziano said on Tuesday that Philadelphia would be a good fit for him. He cites one of the reasons as being the aggressiveness and eagerness of Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to add players to the roster.

Here’s another element that might be involved:

It’s not impossible that the Eagles would try to make this kind of large splash if they lose the Super Bowl to the Chiefs for the second time in three years, especially if their failure to fire Patrick Mahomes at a crucial moment is a contributing factor, Graziano wrote via ESPN.Additionally, Josh Sweat is a free agent, so the Eagles may want to replenish their group of edge rushers.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan, if the Browns move Garrett, it will probably mean an organizational overhaul, which will make it more probable that they will select a quarterback with the second-round choice.

The Giants’ draft strategy would be significantly impacted because the top two quarterbacks, Cam Ward of Miami and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, might be selected before the third pick.

On the other hand, Cleveland may decide to select Abdul Carter of Penn State in the draft if they trade Garrett, who has two years left on his deal.

Andrew Berry, the general manager of the Browns, has insisted that he has no interest in selling Garrett. The 29-year-old will have a high asking price if he is traded, as he has registered at least 14 sacks in each of the previous four seasons.
