After his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers ended at the end of the season, wide receiver Jamal Agnew is now a free agent. His season ended a week after the Steelers’ season finished, and he is now free to sign with another team as a veteran on the practice squad.
Agnew spent the whole season on the Steelers’ practice squad and did not play in any games this season. Although he was made inactive, he was elevated for the team’s playoff matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
At the end of the 2023 season, Agnew broke his leg, which prevented him from playing in the offseason. It wasn’t until just after the 2024 season began that he was cleared, and the Steelers invited him to work out.
The 29-year-old Agnew made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and was named to the first team All-Pro in 2017. As a returner and offensive player, he has amassed 4392 return yards and 12 total touchdowns over his career.
In the 2015 NFL Draft, Agnew was selected in the fifth round from San Diego. He played cornerback with the Lions for the first four seasons of his career. He has since had greater success at wide receiver after the Jaguars moved him there. After switching positions, Agnew has a career total of 77 receptions for 746 yards.
