The cause of death for sitcom star and Tony Award-winning actress Linda Lavin, who died on December 27 at the age of 87, has been established.
According to PeopleandTMZ, the Alice star passed away following cardiopulmonary arrest. One underlying cause was lung cancer.
The National Institutes of Health states that cardiopulmonary arrest occurs when an abnormal heart rhythm causes the heart to cease beating. It frequently results in mortality if treatment is delayed.
She was cremated earlier this month, according to her death certificate.
Lavin had an abronchoscopy a few days before to her passing, which enables medical professionals to examine your lungs and airways.
The most famous part Lavin played was in the hit sitcom Alice, which aired from 1976 until 1985. Her performance in Broadway Bound, a Neil Simon play, earned her a Tony Award as well.
A few weeks prior to her passing, Lavin told People, “I have a wonderful life, a wonderful husband… and I have a very rich and full life and I’m happy to show up.” I’m overjoyed to be here at this point in my life. I truly appreciate it.
