Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback, expects the Pittsburgh Steelers will call the Los Angeles Rams first this offseason to see whether star quarterback Matthew Stafford is available. According to Orlovsky, the team needs to resolve its quarterbacking problems anyway, and Stafford might be the answer.
For the Raiders, Orlovsky stated, “I believe the worst decision I would make would be to contact Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams to find out what Stafford’s plans are.” Will he participate? Will he be retiring? Do they wish to have him return? To be honest, that would be my first choice if I were the Giants, the Steelers, or many other clubs. Look into the general plan for Matthew Stafford.
According to team president Art Rooney II, the organization appears intent on bringing back either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, but not both.
Both of them are good quarterbacks, in my opinion, and I would rather sign one of them. That will therefore take precedence, and I believe it will present us with the best chance to proceed. Of course, we will also be examining the draft. There are unfilled positions in our quarterback room, so I wouldn’t be shocked if we also looked at the draft this year or the following year. According to Rooney, that must be the top priority.
Despite being a superstar, Stafford may be deteriorating as he ages. To fix the quarterback position, Rooney, meantime, wants to have an alternative in place for at least two years. Over the past few seasons, the Steelers have traded quarterbacks in an attempt to find a solution, but they haven’t been successful.
