At 5:29 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a weather notice for Mercer, Venango, and Forest counties, warning of snow showers through 6:15 a.m.

“At 5:29 a.m., Doppler radar tracked snow showers along a line from 19 miles north of Marienville to 29 miles northwest of Sharpsville, moving south at 25 mph,” according to the National Weather Service.

The alert affects the following locations: Hasson Heights, Stoneboro, Seneca, Polk, Sandy Lake, Clark, Jamestown, Rouseville, Fredonia, Hermitage, Sharon, Oil City, Franklin, Sharpsville, Marienville, Greenville, Sugarcreek, Farrell, Tionesta, Mercer, and Hasson Heights. During these snow showers, visibility will rapidly decrease to less than a quarter of a mile. Snow can be applied quickly, up to an inch deep. Snow may cover roads quite quickly.

“Keep a close eye on the weather situation and be on the lookout for potentially dangerous weather conditions,” advises the weather service. In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. When traveling, slow down and give yourself more time.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
