On Monday, team president Art Rooney II stated that the Pittsburgh Steelers would make adjustments to their coaching staff, but not a complete overhaul. According to Rooney, the team does not think that the size of their coaching staff is the problem, and the changes will probably be more minor in scope.
“I don t expect wholesale changes, but I think there are probably going to be a couple of changes,” Rooney stated.
When questioned about the coaching staff’s size, which is among the smallest in the NFL, Rooney responds that the Steelers have previously altered it in the past and that nothing has changed.
Other than perhaps having a larger coaching staff, I wouldn’t rule anything out. That may or may not be the answer. Our coaching staff has expanded, and staff sizes throughout the league have also continued to rise. Accordingly, I don’t believe we’re an anomaly in that regard,” Rooney stated. I simply don’t view that as a hindrance. I don’t believe that is our issue.
That implies that even if the Steelers don’t fire defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, they probably won’t add another coach to the team just to have a fresh perspective.
The Steelers’ performance has mainly not changed despite the addition of a few more aides to the crew. Rooney, though, seems to think it has more to do with the absence of a quarterback than anything else.
