This month, twenty-one Big Lotsleases were put up for sale.
After closing hundreds of locations, the bargain retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September. Due to the failure of a company sale, the retailer announced that it was closing the remaining 909 stores. In order to transfer Big Lots’ locations, distribution facilities, and intellectual property to other retailers, such as Variety Wholesalers Inc., it announced shortly after that statement that it had sold 200–400 stores to Gordon Brothers Retail Partners. However, it remained unclear which of the stores would stay open.
