A freshman headed to Penn State’s transfer portal has found a new home.
T.A. Cunningham, a defensive lineman, declared his dedication to Garden City, a junior college program in Kansas. He did not see the field during his one season at Penn State. For unknown reasons, Cunningham was also sidelined for the first few weeks of the season.On December 9, he went through the gateway.
As the No. 68 player in Georgia and the No. 69 defensive tackle nationally, Cunningham was a three-star prospect in the 2024 class. Before joining the Nittany Lions, he played at many high schools in Georgia and California.
Cunningham is now a part of the Garden City Broncbusters program, which was taken over by head coach Kiyoshi Harris in 2023. In 2016, Garden City took home a national championship.
Now that Cunningham is gone, Penn State’s defensive tackle prospects are clear. The Nittany Lions signed Michigan transfer Owen Wafle as a developmental player, and star Zane Durant will return for his final year. To cover for departing Dvon J-Thomas and Coziah Izzard, 2024 freshmen Xavier Gilliam, redshirt freshmen Ty Blanding, and redshirt sophomore Kaleb Artis will push for playing time.
