Former Penn State player Anthony A.J. Lytton Jr. was killed in a crash last year, and Cori Clingman has been charged with 13 charges, including vehicular manslaughter linked to driving under the influence.
The Associated Press reports that Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Lytton Jr., 24, perished at the scene of the collision.Khyree Jackson, 24, who was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of last year’s draft, was also in the car with them when he passed away.
Prosecutors in Prince George County, Maryland, indicted Clingman. If found guilty, she may spend up to 30 years behind bars, State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy told The AP.
“For these three young men, their families, Wise High School, the NFL, and this entire community, this just really starts our fight to get justice,” Braveboy said.
Clingman was taken into custody without any problems, according to Braveboy, who informed The AP that a bond review was scheduled for Friday.
On July 6, 2024, the car, driven by Hazel, was hit by another car that was changing lanes and speeding, according to the AP. The vehicle struck many tree stumps after veering off the road.
At Florida State and then Penn State, Lytton played defensive back. Last season, he was scheduled to play at Bowie State. Hazel attended both Maryland and Charlotte for her college career.
At Wise High School in Maryland, all three played on a team that won a state championship.
