After witnessing the Polar Bears defeat Carlisle 46-23 in a Mid-Penn Conference Keystone Division dual meet Tuesday night at Gene Evans Gymnasium, Northern coach Cory Johnson was thinking about those problems.

If Northern defeats Palmyra on Wednesday night, they will take the division title by a clear margin. They are currently 14-1 overall and 6-0 in the Keystone.

“I’m a little nervous about that because we’re a little banged up,” Johnson remarked. I believed that a few of the kids that Carlisle had out tonight would have been in the lineup and could have helped bring the score closer.

According to Johnson, Joe (Carlisle head coach Wilson) performs admirably here. It’s challenging because we had a few guys on downward cuts. I’m quite pleased with the performance of our players. They continue to fight, so we’re quite happy.

At 285 Carlisle pinned Jamil Jones over Jorge Castillo to start the dual. Northern gained a 36–6 advantage after winning seven straight fights. Nine of the thirteen fights that night were won by Northern.

During the run, Braylon Barrick (107), Landen Geidel (145), and Tristin Cruz (114) created pins, while Jeremiah Bailey (127) added a technical fall.

At 160 pounds, Neico Fratelli defeated Dylan Myers via major decision to win his 17th fight of the year.

Johnson claimed, “I went out and wrestled hard and wrestled my match after bumping up.” That is the most crucial aspect. You wrestle better while you’re having fun because you just wrestle without thinking about it.

In the District 3, Class 3A power rankings for the team tournament that begins next Tuesday night, Northern started Tuesday night’s dual meet in third place.

With a 7-4 record overall and a 3-3 division, Carlisle started Tuesday night’s play in the power ranking, two spots outside of a tournament berth.

In their last dual meet before the cutoff on Saturday, the Thundering Herd will travel to Hershey on Thursday.
