Everything appears to be in place for Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, to rejoin the organization in 2025. Smith had interviews with the New York Jets and Chicago Bears for head coaching positions, but the Jets appear to have narrowed their search to Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, and the Bears selected Ben Johnson.
Smith claimed that before to the Steelers’ defeat against the Baltimore Ravens, he was entirely preoccupied with the team’s games and not with the head coaching positions for which he would be interviewed. Now that he will soon be returning, the Steelers will have to start over and determine their course of action.
With two different quarterbacks, Smith did contribute to the Steelers offense’s improvement in certain areas, which has improved his standing in the NFL. It follows Smith’s dismissal following three failed seasons in Atlanta. After finishing 7-10 in his final season with the Falcons, he had three straight losing seasons.
Smith’s tenure as the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator continues to be his most fruitful NFL investment. The Titans’ offensive success with Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown made Smith a desirable head coach candidate during that time.
