The National Weather Service issued a new extreme cold warning for Cambria and Somerset counties on Tuesday at 3:05 a.m., which will remain in effect until Wednesday at noon.
The weather service reports “dangerous cold wind chills as low as 26 below zero.” “The lowest wind chills will be during the late night and early morning hours.”
According to the weather service, “if precautions are not taken, frostbite and hypothermia are possible.” “Until conditions improve, people are advised to remain indoors. Wear layers if you must go outside. A bulky coat won’t keep you as warm as multiple layers of clothing. To lower the risk of hypothermia or frostbite, cover any exposed skin.

Avoid venturing outside if there is an extreme cold warning in effect.
