On Friday in Atlanta, former PennLive columnist David Jones accepted the Football Writers Association of America’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jones accepted the honor during a ceremony held in advance of Monday night’s College Football Playoff championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Jones spent 33 seasons on the PSU football beat until retiring from PennLive in May of last year.

He still writes with a certain flair.On January 17, he praised the CFP’s current 12-team system in a guest column.

In 1989, Jones started contributing to The Patriot-News. For 34 seasons, he also covered Penn State men’s basketball.

The following accolades are part of Jones’ illustrious career:

In 2017, Jones was the President of the FWAA.

Since its inception in 2013, he has been the 13th recipient of the FWAA award.
