Melvin Ingram, a former outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, expressed his displeasure with his usage during the 2021 campaign. After the Steelers moved on from him, Ingram asked for a trade and ended up with the Kansas City Chiefs after not receiving the role he had hoped for.
Ingram talked about how he left Pittsburgh on the I Am Athlete podcast. He claimed that in order to pressure the trade, he ceased attending all events, including training and games. After he was moved, Ingram instructed the Steelers to give him a call.
Ingram remarked, “I just kept it a buck.” I quit attending all of them. When you trade me, give me a call. That’s not even how I play.
Ingram left the Chiefs to play for the Miami Dolphins in an attempt to win that ring after failing to win a Super Bowl with them that season. Bud Dupree left the Steelers for the Tennessee Titans that season, and Alex Highsmith took over as the starting quarterback. It never happened that Ingram would start across from T.J. Watt as he had hoped.
