According to ESPN source Dan Graziano, Russell Wilson might sign a big contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers or in free agency. It wouldn’t come as a huge surprise, according to Graziano, if Wilson were to get a contract for up to $100 million, comparable to those of Baker Mayfield and Geno Smith.
As Graziano noted at ESPN.com, “The Steelers like Wilson and aren’t thrilled about the other options they’ll have on the offseason quarterback market.” Wilson might stay for a while if he accepts a contract akin to the $100 million, three-year one Baker Mayfield received from the Bucs last season.
Wilson’s statistics appear to be excellent, but he had a lot of trouble in his previous five games. The Steelers wanted to extend Wilson, but it appears that the future is more focused on Justin Fields coming back and starting in 2025 than it is on paying a large contract to a 36-year-old Wilson who had a rough finish.
