The Spartans, who are 3.5 points ahead, are hoping for their seventh consecutive victory to keep them undefeated in Big Ten play (6-0). With a 94-91 victory against then-No. 14 North Carolina, Michigan State will play its first ranked opponent since the start of their 10-game winning streak, which is the longest since 2019. Sparty defeated visiting Penn State (90-85) in the previous game thanks to a solid showing by its bench, which contributed 45 of the team’s 90 points.
With victories over No. 9 Oregon (109-77), Washington (81-77), and most recently, Indiana (94-69), Illinois has put on three consecutive impressive road performances. Last Saturday night, the Illini lost to USC at home (82–72), although they rallied for a victory after scoring 60 points in the first half.
