On Wednesday, the owners of a popular coffee shop in Camp Hill declared their retirement.

At the end of the month, Sue and Al Pera will relinquish their position as owners of Cornerstone Coffeehouse, located at 2133 Market St. A new owner will take over.

“It’s very emotional and bittersweet, but overall, it’s good,” Sue Pera remarked. My family, friends, and the employees I’ve had there for a long time make it more than simply a business.

She owned the previous Breads n Cheese in Derry Township before taking over the coffee shop in 1999. Long before major chains like Starbucks arrived, Cornerstone was one of the first coffee shops in the area.

A buyer came forward, which sparked the Peras retirement, which has been planned for more than a year. Sue Pera stated, “Yes, we found the right person,” but the new owner is currently anonymous. I am quite happy.

She went on to say, “I just think it’s ready for another generation to take over.” The time has come.

According to her, Cornerstone’s employees will stay on board.

In retirement, the Peras intend to take more time to relax and travel. They made the announcement on Cornerstone’s Facebook page on Wednesday.

The note adds, “They wanted to thank all of you for your unwavering support over the years.”You have evolved into true friends rather than just clients. You are the reason behind all of their accomplishments at Cornerstone. For the Peras, it’s a bittersweet moment, but it’s the right one.

On the post, both current and past clients left well wishes.
