On Wednesday night, the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will host a game between two of the NHL’s top clubs.

At 8:30 p.m. ET, the Minnesota Wild and the Edmonton Oilers will square off in a Western Conference matchup. This one is available to watch on TNT and stream live on Sling TV (discount) or DirecTV Stream (FREE trial and discount).

This season’s third encounter between these teams will take place on Wednesday. The last meeting was won 7-1 by the Oilers.

In the Pacific Division, Edmonton (27-13-3) has a 7-2-1 record in its last ten games and a 12-6-2 record away from home.

It defeated the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 at home on Monday night, winning its sixth of the last seven games and its second consecutive.

The Oilers passed the Kings to take second place in the Pacific Division as Stuart Skinner stopped 31 shots to record his second shutout of the season and sixth of his career. The Oilers trail first-place Vegas by four points.

With 1:23 remaining in the second period, Edmonton (27-13-3, in the Pacific Division) broke a scoreless tie when Leon Draisaitl won a sprint for the puck, took it behind the net, and then fed it in front of a pinching Darnell Nurse. Nurse’s blast was saved by Kuemper, but McDavid got the rebound and put his 17th goal of the season in the Kings’ net.

With 31 goals and 64 points, Draisaitl leads the squad, followed by McDavid (42 assists, 59 points).

Skinner is 17-9-0-3 with a 2.68 goals-against average in 29 appearances, and he has started most of the games.

Minnesota (27-13-4, Central Division) is 11-9-1 at home this season and 7-3 in its past 10 games.

The Wild’s latest game ended in a 4-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights, who broke open a tie game with three goals in the third period, led by Pavel Dorofeyev, who scored two goals on the power play and added an assist.

The Wild’s goal came from Ryan Hartman. 32 shots were stopped by Filip Gustavsson.

It was Marc-Andre Fleury’s last game as a Wild goalkeeper at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, unless these teams cross paths in the postseason. Perhaps the most popular player in the Golden Knights’ brief existence, Fleury played for the team from their first season in 2017–18 until 2021.

The Golden Knights toasted him on the video screen at the first timeout and in the closing minutes, and even though he didn’t play against his previous club, he was applauded and his name was sung by the crowd during pregame.

The Wild’s top scorer with 23 goals, 27 assists, and 50 points is Kirill Kaprizov.

Gustavsson is 18-8-0-3 with a 2.50 goals-against average in his 30 appearances as the Wild’s goalie.
