According to insider Gerry Dulac, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a higher chance of re-signing Justin Fields than not. In his weekly talk, Dulac expressed hope that the team would not only sign Fields back, but also do so on a budget-friendly contract.
I expect Justin Fields will be re-signed at this point, but it won’t be anything spectacular,” Dulac stated.
Fields played six games as a starter. Despite having just one interception and ten total touchdowns during that time, Fields’ fumbling problems persisted, primarily during snap exchanges.
Fields received a vote of confidence from head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday.
Tomlin remarked, “I believe he took the right steps.” I found his handling of his job situation to be quite impressive. Regardless of his position, I believed he brought a sense of urgency to his daily work. I believed that as he progressed through our system, he improved steadily. I believed that was a valid notion to organize (of the quarterback room in 2025) based on his behavior.
Fields does seem like the solution to the Steelers’ quarterbacking plans. Fields alone checks off a lot of boxes in terms of age, cost, and skill set worth. Fields might therefore be the solution to Pittsburgh’s quarterback dilemma, but the Steelers are still unsure of their next course of action.
