According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Las Vegas Raiders have asked to interview Sheldon White, the director of pro personnel for the Pittsburgh Steelers, for their open general manager post.
White will be interviewed for the first time during the general manager cycle. As the Steelers replaced Kevin Colbert with Omar Khan, White joined the team in 2022 as part of a front office retooling.
Khan brought in White, whom Khan had known from his NFL days. White has a long NFL career, especially with the Detroit Lions, where he spent more than ten years in the front office. In 2015, he was the acting general manager.
After that, White became the executive director of player personnel and recruitment at Michigan State, where he remained until 2020. Before being hired by the Steelers in his present position, he made a comeback to the NFL in 2021 as a scout with the Washington Commanders.
The Raiders seek to align their general manager and head coach after firing general manager Tom Telesco. White, a former NFL defensive back, may benefit from his experience in scouting and on the field in this capacity.
