This week, snow is predicted to fall in some areas of the Midwest and Northeastern United States more than others.

The National Weather Service has issued a lake-effect snow warning for Pennsylvania, with six to twelve inches of snow anticipated to fall in Erie County until one in the morning on Thursday. The northern region of Erie County is predicted to receive the most snowfall. There will occasionally be a chance of one to two inches of snow falling every hour. Tuesday afternoon, winds near the lakeshore in Erie County might reach 35 mph.

Crawford County is still under a winter weather advisory through Wednesday at 4 p.m., with another three to five inches of snow accumulation anticipated. The northern portion of Crawford County is predicted to receive the most snowfall. With snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour likely, the greatest snowfall is anticipated Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening.

Additionally, Warren County is under a winter weather advisory from 1:00 PM on Tuesday until 1:00 AM on Thursday. Three to six inches of snow should accumulate overall.

From 1 p.m. on Tuesday until 1 a.m. on Thursday, McKean County will also be under a winter weather advisory. Two to four inches of snow accumulation is anticipated overall.

Residents in Somerset and Cambria counties will have to contend with bitterly cold weather rather than snow.

In those counties, a cold weather advisory is still in force through Wednesday at 10 a.m. There, extremely cold wind chills of up to 15 degrees below zero are predicted.

Additionally, until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a cold weather advisory is still in force for the higher altitudes of Indiana, Westmoreland, and Fayette counties. Expect extremely severe wind chills of 10 to 20 degrees below zero.

What is the outlook for the Harrisburg region this week?

In terms of snowfall, the region is not anticipated to receive nearly as much as northwest Pennsylvania. However, snow might fall there.

There will be flurries on Thursday and Sunday night. AccuWeather reports that Monday night and Tuesday, January 21, could see temperatures drop into the single digits. The National Weather Service also predicts rain and snow on Saturday. Monday could also see sporadic snow showers.
