In addition to Mercer, Venango, Forest, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson, Beaver, Allegheny, Armstrong, Washington, Greene, Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counties, the National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:34 p.m. on Tuesday for light snow through 8:30 p.m. in Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges, and Higher Elevations of Indiana.

“Over the following few hours, a wide region of light snow will persist, reducing visibility to a mile or less and causing light accumulations on roads. This evening, there’s a chance of more intense rains that will quickly accumulate on roads and reduce visibility due to strong winds. Since the temperature in the area is still well below freezing, snow that melts due to vehicle movement may refreeze. Driving this evening should be done carefully since the weather service warns that roads may turn slick and that melting snow from cars may freeze on surfaces.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
