Joshuah Bledsoe, a former member of the New England Patriots, is joining the Pittsburgh Steelers as one of their 17 reserve/future additions. In an attempt to make the active roster, Bledsoe will join the team’s 90-man roster for the summer. The squad will require a backup safety since Damontae Kazee is departing the Steelers.
The Patriots selected Bledsoe in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After being cut in August, he didn’t even make the practice squad for the 2024 season despite spending three seasons with the team.
Before joining the Steelers, Bledsoe signed with the San Antonio Brahmas. Bledsoe has only made one tackle in his three NFL seasons.
Between 2017 and 2020, he played for Missouri, where he recorded 130 tackles and one interception. Since the Steelers signed D Shawn Jamison, a free safety who can play in the nickel, and Bledsoe, who profiles as a strong safety, it appears that the two players compliment one another to some extent.
